Name a layer, get a sound
Turn on Auto-apply by name in the Sounds panel. A layer named “click”, “whoosh” or “pop” gets that sound at its start and keeps following the layer when you move it. You can connect your own sound folder too.
The idea
Adding sound effects usually means searching a library, dragging a file onto the timeline and lining it up by ear, then doing it all again when you move the clip. Auto-apply by name removes that work: give a layer a name, and it gets a matching sound.
How it works
- Open the Sounds panelFind it next to the other panels in the editor.
- Turn on Auto-apply by nameThe editor now watches your layer names.
- Name a layerCall it “click”, “whoosh” or “pop”, or use any sound name or folder name from the library. It gets that sound at its start.
- Move the layerThe sound follows, so your timing stays in sync while you rearrange.
72 sounds in 9 categories
The built-in library covers the sounds motion videos use most:
Because folder names work too, naming a layer after a category is a quick way to get a sound from that group.
Use your own sounds
Choose Add folder to connect a folder on your computer. Sequel Box reads these formats:
Your sounds appear under My folders and work with Auto-apply by name, exactly like the built-in ones.
Pair it with 3D presets
The fastest way to use it: add a clip, apply a fly-in or cube turn from the 3D presets, then name the layer “whoosh”. The motion and the sound arrive together. Read more on the sound library section, or check the FAQ for common questions.
